Why I, as a black man, attend KKK rallies. | Daryl Davis | TEDxNaperville

This is one of the most powerful TED Talks I have ever seen. This man became best friends with a KKK Klan Leader as a black man and through the power of listening and RESPECT. Daryl Davis was able to change the path of Robert W. Kelley who was a leader of the KKK and after becoming friends with Daryl, Robert LEFT the KKK. This is nothing short of amazing, Daryl says at the end to close out his TED Talk “”Respect is the key, sitting down and talking not necessarily agreeing but respecting each other to air their points of view, because of that respect and my willingness to listen, and his willingness to listen to me. He ended up leaving the Klan and there is his robe right there. I am a musician not a psychologist or sociologist, if I can do that, anybody in here can do that. Take the time to sit down and talk with your adversaries, you will learn something and they will learn something from you. When two enemies are talking, they’re not fighting, they’re talking. It’s when the talking ceases that the ground becomes fertile for violence, so keep the conversation going. Thank you all very much”.

I would just like to say you are an amazing soul Mr. Daryl Davis, thank you so much for your bravery and being a force for good. May God Bless you and your family. I will be getting in touch with you soon. Thanks for your work brother.
